If you burn more calories than you consume then you will burn fat, cardio workouts are a great way to burn calories.

That's not true! Cardio workout is great for fat loss. it works your entire body and increase your heart rate and stamina. a real fat burner

There exist situations in which people doing cardio workouts will be keeping or gaining fat, but these people would be gaining a whole lot more otherwise. Cardio workouts are focussed directly on burning fat quickly. If you spend 30 minutes a week doing cardio, and consequently stop going for one-hour jogs every third day, you'll lose less fat, but time-for-time cardio is better, and half an hour cardio and an hour jogging is better than two hours jogging.

Cardio helps to burn calories. If you burn more calories than you consume, you will burn fat.

No its the complete opposite.The amount of energy your body needs to do something is a measured unit called a calorie. The main source of calories is from carbohydrates and fats. In order to burn a calorie that comes from fat or carbs, you must exert some sort of energy on a regular basis.When you do some sort of cardiovascular exercise just for 30 minutes, you burn between 150 and 300 calories, which is a fair bit for one activity.

No not at all. Cardio is the best for of exercise for weight loss. The trick to lossing weight it sot eat less and burn more, Cardio helps burn many calories and can helo in weight loss overall. However, weight training doesn't work for fat loss, it builds muscle. Maybe you got the two confused...

Look at marathon runners -- you see any body fat on them?Here's the deal: Cardio does work for fat loss, but the problem is you start to burn muscle instead of fat after 30-40 minutes of cardio. On the flipside, you can walk as much as you want for as long as you want and you burn fat almost exclusively. In addition, strength training is also very effective for weight/fat loss if you do it correctly. So you have options if your goal is fat loss.If you read "The Abs Diet" by David Zinczenko (Editor-in-Chief of Mens Health magazine) you'll see no cardio at all. You do full-body strength training workouts on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, and then do brisk walks on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. Could you do cardio instead of walking? Sure you could, but again, you really need to cap your cardio sessions at 30-40 minutes so you don't lose muscle.The Mens Health website has a wealth of information, including diet tips and exercise plans, for guys who want to lose the flab.

Nope, it's the complete opposite. If you do cardio, you will burn quite a bit of calories added on to how much you burned just by walking around and doing everyday activities. If you burn more than you consume, you will lose weight.

Jeeez, the myth survives, huh? What a mix of answers. The truth is that cardio may or may not burn fat. Whether it does or does not will depend on your caloric intake and how much cardio you do.Cardio is a word that is used too often and usually misused. Cardio is simply any exercise which elevates the heart rate to and sustains it at 80% of max. It could be aerobic or anaerobic and the word never had anything to do with fat until it began migrating into the common lexicon where it was adapted with a varitey of unseemly connotations...a process we see too often. However, anyone can burn fat very well without cardio and anyone can also do a whole lot of cardio and not burn any fat at all. So what does cardio have to do with fat loss? Not much really. It's an okay way to burn some calories if you happen to be in a fat burning mode because it does create an energy demand and consumes calories. However, when you consider that an average person has to run (let's call that cardio) or walk five miles every day to burn one pound of fat per week, some would argue that they preferred the walking to the running or even that they could not do the running in which case the cardio is, for them, not best.Alternatively, if you consume too much food, all the walking or running (cardio) you can do will not result in any fat loss. And that fact makes diet, not cardio, the key to burning fat.So, it's true that cardio is not necessary to burn fat. It is also true that cardio is often not the best way to burn fat. And, it is usually true that cardio burns fewer calories than the basal metabolic rate (BMR) for 24 hours which means that just living burns more calories than cardio in most cases. Even though cardio is not really about burning fat and has more to do with cardio-vascular fitness, it does help burn fat when the diet allows it. But, the truth is that cardio has a place in the grand scheme of fitness and that place is not about losing fat. Hence, it should not be recommended for fat loss as often as it is for cardio is, at the very most, a simple and unnecessary adjunct to the fat loss process.Hopefully the following fitness facts will help clarify.? If you consume fewer calories than you burn, you have to lose fat eventually. There are no exceptions to this fact.? A pound of fat will yield about 3500 calories (Kcal) of energy.? An average person must run or walk about 5 miles (8 km) every day to burn one pound of fat per week AND THEIR DIET MUST ALLOW IT. ? An average person must run or walk about 350 miles (563 km) to burn 10 pounds AND THEIR DIET MUST ALLOW IT.? An average person who consumes 500 calories per day less than they burn will lose about a pound a week with no extra time or physical effort required.? A average person dieting with a 500 calorie/day deficit will burn 10 pounds of fat in 10 weeks. The same person running 5Km (3 miles) per day with a Zero calorie/day deficit will burn 10 pounds in 16 weeks.?Running does not burn any more fat than walking as long as the distance remains the same.? It does not matter if a person runs or walks a given distance?they will burn the same number of calories. Calories are energy and energy expenditure is not time dependent. How fast a person runs has nothing to do with how many calories they burn. Only the distance determines the calories burned.? It is not necessary to do "cardio" to burn fat. "Cardio" is aerobic exercise which elevates the heart rate to 80% of max and sustains it for the purpose of cardio-vascular fitness. You can burn fat in your sleep.? Most of the calories you consume will be spent just keeping your body temperature at 98.6F. ? It doesn?t matter how hard or how long you exercise, you will not lose any fat if you eat too much. You can always eat more calories than you can burn.
